WORST WIJNCAFE TAPAS, BAR €

Other dishes include pigs’ trotters. There’s a fantastic range of mostly French wines by the glass. Sunday brunch is a local event.

MAP GOOGLE MAP ( 688 06 32; www.debakkerswinkel.nl; Polonceaukade 1, Westergasfabriek; dishes €5-10; 9am-5pm Mon-Fri, 10am-6pm Sat & Sun; 10 Van Limburg Stirumstraat) The wonderful ‘Bakery’ has seven branches throughout the city and country, but this one is uniquely situated by the drawbridge in the old regulator’s house at the former gasworks, with mezzanine seating, comfy sofas and a great terrace. Quiches, fish terrines, soups and sourdough sandwiches are all good choices, and the carrot cake is unmissable.
